What is GPM and how to calculate GMP?

GPM stands for Gallons per minute. It’s a measurement that indicates water flow rate required for the uninterrupted waterflow. It is crucial to maintain the required GPM in order to ensure a smooth water fall through the scupper. An incorrect flow speed may affect the outpour display making it look shabby.

GPM Calculation

Formula: Length of the scupper (in inches) X 1.25

For Example, the GPM for a 20" long scupper will be:

20 x 1.25  = 25GPM

Here are some examples indicating the GPM for some standard sized scuppers.

Scupper Size  Calculation GPM
8" 8 x 1.25 10
12" 12 x 1.25 15
24" 24 x 1.25 30
36" 36 x 1.25 45
